Short version: we collect what we need to run the app, we never sell it, and it's yours to export or delete whenever you want.
Too Hard Pile collects your email address (so you can log in), an optional display name if you set one, the practice progress you generate by rating drills (which questions you've seen, how well you did, when they're next due), anything you choose to write in your decision journal or your saved "digs," and any feedback messages you send us. That's it — we don't track you across other sites, and we don't run ad trackers.
If you sign in with Google, authentication is handled by Google's Firebase service. We receive your email address and a sign-in identifier — never your Google password. Google's own privacy policy governs their side of that exchange.
We never see or store your card or bank details. Payments are handled by our payment processors — Creem (merchant of record for international payments) and Razorpay (payments in India) — who receive your email and payment details to process the transaction, under their own privacy policies. We store only your plan status and a subscription reference so we can manage your access and cancellations.
We send account emails (welcome, subscription confirmations) and, if you have reviews due, occasional practice reminders — delivered via Resend, our email provider. Every reminder has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing never affects your account.
Your email identifies your account and lets us send account-related messages (like password resets). Your progress and journal data exist so the app can schedule reviews and show you your own history. We use a session cookie purely to keep you logged in — it carries no tracking payload and isn't shared with anyone.
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, de-identified usage — how many people visit, which pages they land on, roughly what region and device they're on — so we can make the app better. This sets analytics cookies in your browser. It's measurement, not advertising: we don't build ad profiles and we don't sell this data. If you'd prefer not to be measured, most browsers let you block cookies, or you can use an analytics blocker.
We never sell your data. We don't share your journal entries or progress with third parties, and we don't use your data to train anything outside of running Too Hard Pile for you.
Running the app relies on a small set of service providers, each receiving only what their job requires: Northflank (hosting), Cloudflare (network, security, and encrypted backups), Google (sign-in via Firebase, and analytics as described above), Resend (email delivery), and Creem / Razorpay (payments). Your data lives on servers operated by these providers; we keep daily encrypted backups so your progress isn't lost.
From Settings you can export a full copy of your data (journal, digs, and progress) as a JSON file at any time, or permanently delete your account and everything in it — no waiting period, no support ticket required.
